How does Pay Per Click work?

First you choose the search terms you would like to appear for, such as " buy chocolate". Then you put in a bid for how much you are willing to spend every time someone clicks on your link, for example £0.80.

If you have bid the highest you appear at the top, if you are the 2nd highest you are 2nd and so on.

Every time someone clicks on your link however you pay the search engine (google) a fee.

You can choose to spend as much or as little as you like, and have as many search terms as you like.
